Month by month

Oct 2026 to Sep 2027

This calendar runs from Oct 2026 to Sep 2027, with one block for each month. Each block lists the principal phases that fall inside that month, in date order, and the count varies from month to month. Every row gives the exact moment of its phase, the sign the Moon occupies at that moment, and a traditional name where one exists. Find the month you are planning, then read down its rows.

Reading it

How to read this calendar

Each row has a kind, a moment, a sign and, where one exists, a traditional name. The Full Moon of Oct 2026 is recorded at 26 Oct 2026, 04:12 UTC, with the Moon at that instant in Taurus. The sign describes the Moon only at that moment, not across the whole block.

The four principal phases describe the Moon's position against the Sun. A New Moon comes when the Moon sits roughly between the Earth and the Sun. Its lit side faces away from you. A quarter Moon shows half of its disc lit, a quarter of the way around the cycle from a New Moon or a Full Moon. A Full Moon comes when the Moon sits on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun. Its whole lit face is turned toward you.

Every moment in the table is written in UTC, one clock for everyone. Your local time is UTC plus or minus the offset of your zone. The same instant therefore reads differently wherever you stand. An offset can also carry a moment across midnight, so the local date may change even when the UTC row looks clear. Convert the time last, once you know which zone you mean.

A phase is one instant, and the date it lands on depends on where it is read. A moment late in the UTC day can fall on the following date for readers east of Greenwich. A moment early in the UTC day can fall on the previous date for readers west of Greenwich. Two readers in different countries can see the same phase on different dates, and both readings are correct.

The times come from the calculations described in the ephemeris guide, and each sign is measured along the ecliptic. For the sign behind a particular birth time, use the moon sign calculator.

Read the table in a fixed order. Find the month, find the phase, convert the UTC moment to your zone, and only then decide what the date means for you. The window moves forward as the page is rebuilt, but this way of reading it stays the same. A lunation is the stretch from one New Moon to the following one, and the table is built on that unit.

Frequently asked questions

When is the next full Moon?

In the record, the Moon is full at 26 Oct 2026, 04:12 UTC, with the Moon in Taurus. The table lists it in the block for Oct 2026, in the row marked Full Moon. That time is in UTC, so convert it to your own clock to find your local date. The same moment can fall on a different date where you live.

How many full Moons are there in a year?

A full Moon comes roughly once a month, so the total for any span depends on where you start and stop counting. Count the rows marked Full Moon across the blocks you are reading. Each block lists only the phases that fall inside its own month, so counting across blocks adds up without overlap.

Why are the times in UTC?

The table uses UTC so that each phase has one time for every reader. Your local clock is UTC plus or minus the offset of your zone, so the same instant reads differently wherever you stand. Use UTC when you compare entries, and convert to your local time only when you plan something where you live.

What is a Blue Moon?

A Blue Moon is a second full Moon inside one calendar month. That is the common definition, though some people use another. To check a month, look at its block and count the rows marked Full Moon. Two such rows in one block would make the second a Blue Moon under that definition.

Method & limits

Astronomy first, reflection second.

Every date here is computed with Astronomy Engine, run once into this site's event tables. They are geocentric, in the tropical zodiac, in UTC to the minute, with your own zone beside them once the page loads. The sentence at the top is dated for the data date shown at the top, midnight UTC. Your browser corrects it against your own clock. Readings are for reflection, never health, legal or money guidance. Nothing about you is sent anywhere.
